The Douglas Stafford Team were pleased to take part in the Dragon Boat festival to support its fund raising for the Barely Born NHS Charity on the Isle of Wight.

The Barely Born Appeal has been launched to raise additional funds to help provide St Mary’s Hospital with a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for the island’s sick babies and their parents.

Douglas Stafford have chosen this as their preferred charity for 2009 and all the relevant fundraising events we take part in during 2009 will be for the Barely Born Appeal. To find out more about this charity visit www.barelyborn.co.uk

DBRace1Douglas Stafford entered their head office team known as the “Mystery Shoppers” into the event for the day and despite the intermittent weather conditions, a thoroughly exhausting time was had by all, as the true fitness levels of the team were put to the test.

The event took place on the lake at Douglas Stafford’s new Head Office at 1000 Lakeside on the outskirts of Portsmouth along with many other local businesses and groups and was organized by the Portsmouth & Southsea Rotary Club.

Dragon Boat Racing originates from China over 2000 years ago. The Dragon Boats are long canoes which have Dragons heads and tails attached and are decorated in various colours and designs.
