Douglas Stafford donates £1500

Barely Born Charity DonationDuring 2009 Douglas Stafford were pleased to support their chosen Charity “Barely Born”. The Barely Born Appeal was launched to raise additional funds to help provide St Mary’s Hospital with a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for the island’s sick babies and their parents.

Throughout 2009 Douglas Stafford took part in many charity fundraising events such as the Portsmouth Local Dragon Boat Race Festival as well as regular internal fund raising initiatives such as dress down days etc to help boost the pot of funds raised.

Pamela George, who is the sister of the unit, said: “Thank you to all of the staff at Douglas Stafford for raising this fantastic sum of money for us. We have a wish list of items of equipment we would like to purchase for our lovely new unit and this very generous donation will go a long way in helping us to do this.” On behalf of Douglas Stafford, director Diane Cook and chairman Nigel Cook presented the cheque to staff on the 5th January 2010. Mr Cook said: “I feel strongly about supporting children’s charities and what better one to support than Barely Born. The money goes to helping children who are already experiencing difficulties at the very beginning of their life.”

The money will help towards purchasing respiration monitors, a camera and flat-screen televisions for the unit.
