Douglas Stafford supports Taylor Wimpey’s charity event

Douglas Stafford is delighted to be supporting Taylor Wimpey’s annual Football and It’s A Knockout tournaments which will take place on 27th November 2010.

The event will involve teams from all Taylor Wimpey – one of the UK’s largest house builders – businesses across the country competing against each other in two separate competitive but fun contests.

The money raised from the events and from a charity auction and raffle held on the same day will be donated to the company’s chosen charity Centrepoint, which works to improve the lives of homeless young people.

The charity provides more than just accommodation – its award winning support and development approach helps young people expand their social and employment skills and gain education and training to help them move on to living independently with the practical skills they need for a positive future.

Douglas Stafford was delighted to donate to the auction and raffle a day out on the Solent for six people aboard their 40 ft yacht, Lady Diane.

Chad Robbins, Account Manager at Douglas Stafford, said: “Taylor Wimpey is a valued client and we are very pleased to support their fundraising efforts on behalf of Centrepoint, which is a very worthwhile charity – and we hope everyone taking part has a fun-packed day!”

Douglas Stafford awarded new contract from fast growing motor group

Douglas Stafford is delighted that Stoneacre Motor Group, one of the UK’s fastest growing motor retail businesses, has awarded the company a new mystery shopping contract.

Following a pilot programme, mystery shoppers from Douglas Stafford will now take part in a series of quarterly surveys across Stoneacre’s 25 dealerships.

The mystery shopping will focus on the Doncaster-based company’s used car sales departments and will involve following the full sales process all the way up to the point of sale.

Ben Sargeant, Operations Director at Douglas Stafford, commented: “We are very pleased to have been awarded a contract with Stoneacre Motor Group.”

“The experience we have working in the motor industry, at both manufacturer and dealer level, will allow us to fully analyse Stoneacre’s business through our mystery shopping activity.”

“The results and Douglas Stafford’s knowledge of the sector will in turn provide a great platform for recommendations and development that will help drive Stoneacre’s business forward.”

“I know that the team we have at Douglas Stafford will do their best to exceed expectations and provide a great level of service.”

Katie Races to Success

Douglas Stafford’s Katie Perrin spent an adrenaline-fueled day at Silverstone, the UK’s top motor racing circuit, testing her driving skills in an £80,000 Porsche.

Katie was the lucky winner of a recent company raffle which raised money for two charities which Douglas Stafford is supporting in 2010, the Fort Cancer Charity www.fort-cancer.org.uk and Solent MS Therapy Centre www.smstherapycentre.org.uk .

“It was an amazing day and one that I won’t forget in a hurry,” says Helpdesk Co-ordinator Katie. “I have a real passion for cars and everyone in the office knew how delighted I was to win and I had a brilliant time.”

“After lunch in the Porsche Restaurant, which overlooks the test track, I got to drive a 911 Carrera S on four different test tracks with my instructor, a former policeman who used to deal with car crime and was experienced in high-speed pursuits.”

“First track was the Handling Circuit which was like a difficult A road with blind corners and varying cambers. Then there was Low Friction, which was a special diamond polished tarmac where you had to go very fast and then drive round in tight circles at very high speed.”

“After that was the Kick Plate, a moveable metal plate used to simulate driving over wet leaves or black ice and then losing control of the rear of the car. The car I drove was worth £80,000 so spinning out of control on the Kick Plate in a car worth that much was definitely a strange feeling!”

“The final one was the Ice Hill which simulates sheet ice. The aim is to swing the back of the vehicle out but in a controlled manner in order to swerve around both fountains without hitting them. It was a real challenge but I managed to do it right a couple of times by regaining control of the car before it span around too much – the instructor said I was a natural!”

“After I’d finished, Mike, my instructor, took me back round the course, this time with him driving. He went very, very fast which was fantastic – and at the end of my session he then kindly took my Mum out on the track for a spin!”
