Online savings are being made by all ages according to new report

More and more older people are using new technology to help their income and pension stretch further.
A report by Asda Mumdex has revealed that 85 per cent of grandmas over the age of 60, and almost half of over 70s, have started using the internet and various mobile apps to save money.
The poll of over 5,500 mums of all ages across the UK, showed that nine in 10 younger mums are using the web to save money. The report also found that half of mums have recently used money saving apps, and nine out of 10 mums turn to the internet to shop around.
Hayley Tatum, Asda’s Executive People Director said: “Mums of all ages are now turning to technology when it comes to managing the household budget. It’s refreshing to see that smartphone apps and comparison sites are not exclusive to the younger generation.”
The findings coincide with Shoppercentric’s UK report on older shoppers, which found that 39 per cent of 60-69 year olds own smartphones, while 67 per cent own a PC or laptop.
