Douglas Stafford Mystery Shopping team battle it out on the race track
By Jamie White – Head of Communications
Douglas Stafford team members put their driving skills to the test to see who would be crowned king of the go-kart track at a thrilling race night in Gosport.
After donning their racing gear, the mystery shopping team started their warm up laps on the 450m track before the timed race began.
The friendly rivalry between the team members from various departments in the business, continued to heat up throughout the session at TeamSport’s Gosport indoor track, with each driver determined to claim first place.
Once the action was underway, drivers had to master the racing line quickly and get used to the long straights, huge corner flyover and the Donnington Bridge in a bid to achieve karting success.
After jostling for places and some daring overtaking manoeuvres, it was Project Scheduling Manager, Ben White who claimed victory.
Ben, who cycles to work everyday, proved he was an expert on four wheels, as well as two, by recording the best lap of the evening at 30.559 seconds to take first place on the podium.
Account Manager, Rohan Tailor, finished in a close second place, with Operations Director Ben Sargeant taking fourth place.
Rohan, who was frustrated at not being able to edge past his colleague into first place, said: “While most of Ben’s overtakes were within the boundaries of good motorsport etiquette, some were a little more ‘bumper cars’ than go-karts.”
Video Editor Chris Boothby, whose birthday the team were celebrating, finished in eight place, just ahead of Operations Manager Paul Brown, who took ninth place. Client Relations Manager, Madelaine Cook, who was taking to the track for the first ever time, brought up the rear in last place.
