Team member from Douglas Stafford Mystery Shopping makes ring debut
By Jamie White – Head of Communications
A team member from mystery shopping company Douglas Stafford swapped the office for the ring as he took part in his first competitive Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) bout.
Rohan Tailor, who has worked at Douglas Stafford for 10 years, battled in three two-minute rounds at the event at the Charter Sports Centre, Southsea.
Rohan’s match was one of 18 amateur and semi-professional kickboxing and MMA bouts throughout the day, which was hosted by GYM01, which also hosts the ‘Shock’n’Awe show.
Rohan stood toe-to-toe with his competitor throughout the rounds and looked to be on top. However, judges ruled against him and the win was awarded to his challenger on a questionable points decision.
Rohan, who was cheered on by team members from Douglas Stafford, said: “I’ve been training for about three years with FreeSpirit JJ and I decided it was about time I fought competitively. It was my first bout consisting of full contact rules for three two-minute rounds.
“After three hard fought rounds, I lost on points, and it could have gone either way, but the fight was certainly well received by the crowd. I hope to compete at Shock’n’Awe in September at Portsmouth’s Mountbatten Centre.”
Rohan joined Douglas Stafford in 2004 as a graduate trainee administrator, before becoming a Project Co-ordinator due to the rapid expansion of the company’s client base.
Over the years, Rohan has worked across various departments to enhance his knowledge and expertise, including supporting key departments such as the project management team, quality control and helpdesk. In 2010, Rohan became Project Operations Manager, before taking up the role as Account Manager later that year.
