John Lewis unveils 2014 Christmas advert

Department store, John Lewis, has revealed its new Christmas advert for 2014 – Monty’s Christmas.

The film focuses around the friendship between a young boy, Sam, and a penguin, Monty, who he takes everywhere with him.

 

The pair are inseparable, playing football, hide-and-seek, taking bus rides and sledging together.

 

But Monty repeatedly sees people in love and it becomes clear he wants his own special friend.

 

So on Christmas Day, Sam gives Monty the gift he has been dreaming of – a new penguin friend called Mabel.

 

Monty and Mabel have been created using complex CGI technology to look and behave exactly like real-life Adelie penguins.

The £1 million advert follows last year’s equally heart-rending, The Bear and the Hare, with Lily Allen providing the soundtrack.

 

This year, singer-songwriter, Tom Odell has recreated John Lennon’s Real Love, which is set to top the charts.
