Lewis Castle, who works on the Helpdesk at the Douglas Stafford head office at Lakeside North Harbour, Portsmouth, is spending two months in Indonesia working on the Little Fire Face Project.

The project focuses around research into the behaviour and ecology of slow lorises – a unique group of primates found throughout South and Southeast Asia.

Lewis will be part of the research team collecting data from the wild slow lorises, using radio-tracking, nocturnal behaviour observation and habitat assessment and education projects during the day and night.

Lewis said: “A friend of mine is currently working on the project and asked if I would like to be involved. It will be a fantastic experience for me.

“The slow lorises are adorable looking creatures and I am really looking forward to being part of a team that can help protect their species.”

The Little Fireface Project, named after the Sundanese word for loris, is the world’s longest running loris conservation project, started in 1993, under the auspices of the Nocturnal Primate Research Group of Oxford Brookes University.
