A Douglas Stafford team member will be trekking across the Great Wall of China to raise money for charity!

Ryan Tout, 24, will be taking part in Velindre’s Great Wall of China Trek, a spectacular five-day journey across part of China’s monumental chain of castles for the Velindre Cancer Centre.

Ryan will be completing the trek with his friend Oliver Greenham, and they will be joining a group of approximately 40 other fundraising trekkers, including a very special guest: Welsh comedian (and Patron of Velindre) Rhod Gilbert!

As Wales’ premier cancer centre, Velindre provides treatment, care and support to patients, their families. As well as ensuring the best care and support, the money raised through fundraising is used to support projects over and above those provided by the NHS, including groundbreaking research, specialist equipment, nurses, staff training, and much more.

The challenging trek, which will take place in May 2020, offers participants a fascinating insight into China’s rich culture and history, as well as beautiful scenery across their epic landscapes.

To complete this incredible journey, Ryan and Oliver must both raise £4,000, so will be holding multiple fundraising events over the next 10 months, from quiz nights, raffles and bucket collections to their very own film festival. A small portion of the money raised goes into the organisation of the event, but the rest goes toward the incredible work that the Velindre Cancer Centre does every day.

Good luck Ryan, we’re all rooting for you!
