The Managing Director of leading estate agency group, Arun Estates, has completed a gruelling cycle challenge for charity.
David Lench rode from Lands End to John O’Groats, covering more than 1,000 miles, with his friend Kevin Hafner, who owns a property restoration company.
The challenge – which raised money Action Medical Research and chYps – took exactly two weeks to complete and involved several tough hill climbs between 5,000 and 6,000ft.
Training for the event started back in April, with the David and Kevin both taking part in local cycle events in preparation.
Throughout the ride, they battled against the elements, with spells of strong winds and rain making the challenge even harder. However, they kept going and reached the finish line at Land’s End, where they celebrated with a bottle of champagne – in the rain – underneath the infamous Land’s End sign.
David, who oversees Cubitt and West, Arun Land and New Homes, Rooney and Co, Ward and Partners, Douglas Allen and Pittis under the Arun Estates umbrella, said: “Finished – what a fantastic feeling! Not only completing the ride but also raising lots of money for our two charities.
“I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the site so far. Both Action Medical Research and ChYps are most grateful for the money they have received to date. They are both wonderful charities and all funds raised will be distributed to them on a 50/50 basis.”
So far, David and Kevin have managed to raise more than £65,000 for their chosen charities, which included a donation from mystery shopping company, Douglas Stafford.
Douglas Stafford provides Arun Estates with a bespoke nationwide mystery shopping and customer experience programme to include video mystery shopping.
